Microfinance in Latin America

Participate in a Survey on Microfinance: What is the future of the sector and which are the current challenges for microfinance in Latin America?

This is a brief online survey created by the “Rete Italia - America Latina Association” and “Giordano Dell’Amore Foundation” aimed at gathering the opinions of the main players in the Latin American microfinance sector. The results of the survey will be presented at the 4th National Conference of Italy, Latin America and the Caribbean to be held in Milan, 2nd and 3rd December 2009. Heads of Latin American States, the President of the “Inter-American Development Bank” IADB, representatives of the “Corporación Andina de Fomento (CAF) and of the “Banco Nacional de Desenvolvimento Economico e Social (BNDES) will present at the conference.

 

The objective of the consultation is to open a dialogue on microfinance and its impact among operators and key decision-makers in Latin America, such as Heads of State, representatives of development banks and policy-makers in the financial sector; in order to shape a new use of this important instrument in the fight against global poverty as well as contributing to a sustainable development .

 

The 4th National Conference of Italy, Latin America and the Caribbean represents the main occasion for Latin American political players to meet, discuss and shine a light over the sub-region’s internal affairs in relation to Europe and Italy. The participation of the most relevant economic and political Italian actors has made the Conference one of the most attended events concerning Latin America. The fourth edition is promoted and organized by RIAL in collaboration with the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Lombardy Region, the City of Milan and the Milan Chamber of Commerce.

 

Rete Italia-America Latina (RIAL), was created with the aim of enhance and strengthen economic, political and cultural relations between Italy and Latin American countries.

 

Giordano Dell’Amore Foundation (FGDA) is one of the leading institutions in Italy and Europe for the study and the promotion of microfinance as a tool for poverty alleviation. This year FGDA hosted the 6th Annual Conference of the European Microfinance Network, and launched the first “Giordano Dell’Amore Microfinance Best Practices Award” in Italy..
